Flowers Captures Lead Early To Defeat DuVal Tigers Varsity

DuVal Tigers Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-3 loss to Flowers on Tuesday. Flowers scored on a single by Whitehead and a stolen base in the first inning.

The DuVal Tigers Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Flowers, giving up 13 runs.

Flowers opened up scoring in the first inning. Espinosa was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

DuVal Tigers Varsity tallied three runs in the fifth inning. DuVal Tigers Varsity offense in the inning was led by Kalvin Reyes-Martinez and Maurice Lyles, all driving in runs in the inning.

Flowers scored six runs in the third inning. Flowers batters contributing to the big inning included Whitehead, Bradshaw , and Mcgowan, who all drove in runs.

Meade earned the win for Flowers. He allowed two hits and three runs over two innings, striking out two. Meade recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Flowers.

Jalen Brooks took the loss for DuVal Tigers Varsity. He went two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero runs on zero hits and walking zero.

Bradshaw started the game for Flowers. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out five and walking zero. Aaron Hemmans started the game for DuVal Tigers Varsity. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out three and walking zero.

Brooks led DuVal Tigers Varsity with two hits in three at bats.

Whitehead went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Flowers in hits.
