Athletic Philosophy: “Mens sana in corpore sano”, is “a sound mind in a healthy body” is an ideal to strive for. This “motto” does not come from a running shoe company, we all know that, of course, and although it is in Latin it does not come from the Romans. This is ascribed to Thales, long before the Romans marched on the world. Let’s remember that ancient Greece is the origin of the Olympics. Sparta and Athens both had a culture of Sport with Athens adding in an emphasis on mind. Harmony and balance between body and soul is important so it is for sports and academics. As a teacher I have always had great esteem for our student-athletes, for I know it is quite demanding maintain good grades and be a successful athlete. However, we all know that it takes a village to help model a child, sport and academics are only parts of someone’s life baggage. Achievements in Sport and Academics are measurable successes, I as a teacher, I strive for help them become a well-rounded persona; this is not measurable it requires skills that will be acquired only if there is willingness, perseverance, constancy, stamina and above all an expert and mature person, a mentor, a teacher, a coach to guide and support our young student athletes to accomplish it and thus become a lifelong “good person.”

Would you please, post this info about Bocce

For those who don’t have any idea what Bocce is…Bocce Italian pronunciation:[bɔttʃe]), sometimes anglicized as bocci, is a ball sport belonging to the boules sport family, closely related to bowls with a common ancestry from ancient games played in the Roman Empire. Developed into its present form in Italy (where it is called bocce, it is played around Europe and also in overseas areas that have received Italian migrants, including Australia, North America, and South America. Bocce was initially played among the Italian migrants but has slowly become more popular with their descendants and the wider community.
