Position: Head Coach
Coach Nigel Cross enters his first year as the Head Coach at Duval High School. He brings coaching experience from being an assistant coach at Oxon Hill High School from 2013-2015. During his time as an assistant at Oxon Hill, he was able to help produce a state runner up in Jahi Jones, who is also member of the University of Maryland’s wrestling team.
Nigel Cross gain a few accolades as a wrestler for Oxon Hill High School. In 2008 as a junior, he won the 3a4a public school state championship for the 285 pound weight class. He also was honorable mention in the USA wrestling magazine national rankings for the 2009 senior heavyweight weight class. Once he finished his career at Oxon Hill, he was elected to the gazette all decade team, and went on to wrestle at Ashland University as a graduate student.
Cross attended Bowie State University where he was a member of the football team, and earned his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. His goals for the program is to create an environment where student athletes are successful on the mat, in the classroom, and their life endeavors.
