Position: Assistant Coach
Ashley Horn is a native Washingtonian and was educated in the DC and Prince Georges County Public School Systems, who actively participated in a variety of prep sports including volleyball, softball, basketball and track & field. She excelled in Track and Field and received a full track scholarship to Morgan State University. While at Morgan she received several honors including being crowned the MEAC (Mid Eastern Athletic Conference) Champion in the Shot put & Javelin, named Athlete of the Year and was a bronze medalist at the prestigious Penn Relays.
After receiving her degree in Physical Education in 2006, she decided to become an educator and coach. From 2007-2009, she was assigned to Bladensburg High school were she served as a Physical Education teacher, Volleyball and Assistant Track Coach. In 2009, she transferred to Duval High School were she continued teaching Physical Education and serving as an Assistant Track & Field Coach 2009- Present), specializing in the field events. She also served as the Assistant Volleyball Coach from 2010-2015, and will be taking over the Volleyball program beginning in the fall of 2015.
Her hobbies include reading, traveling, watching and participating in athletics. She currently participates in co-ed volleyball, and a women’s flag football league during her free-time. Her ultimate goal is to coach on the collegiate level and also obtain an Advanced Degree in Physical Education and Coaching.
It is her goal to inspire, encourage, as well as equip them with the information and tools needed to be successful and productive citizens that will contribute to the greater community and engage in a lifetime of physical activity and learning.
My expectations for the upcoming season is that our team will display a high level of competition, determination, resiliency, and discipline this year. In addition it is my plan that every student representing the Volleyball program will be a model of of excellence in the classroom as well as on the court.
