Tigers News · Office of Interscholastic Athletics Statement on COVID-19

PGCPS will begin the 2020-2021 school year on Monday, August 31 with distance learning for all grades. Distance learning will continue through the first and second quarters with a goal to return to school buildings in February to begin the third quarter.

The PGCPS Interscholastic Athletics Office believes that all student-athletes should focus and enhance their academic achievement through the Prince George’s County online education-based opportunities. As we enter the next phase of virtual learning within the county, athletics will start at the lowest risk of participation as your health and safety is our first concern.

Lowest Risk:

  • During the virtual learning, all sports are postponed. The virtual status will be re-assessed Dec. 1, 2020 by Dr. Goldson, CEO.
  • Performing low-impact activities or conditioning at home, alone or with your family members.
  • Re-engagement of student-athletes and the virtual re-introduction of athletics and activities for the betterment of the social, emotional, and physical well-being.

The virtual learning athletic schedule will be uploaded by Sept. 1 on the Interscholastic Athletic website PGCPS Interscholastic Athletics and Athletic Directors will share with their coaches and student-athletes.

Thank you and please be safe!
