DuVal Tigers Falls To Laurel After Seventh Inning Score
DuVal Tigers lost the lead late in a 12-9 defeat to Laurel on Monday. The game was tied at seven with Laurel batting in the top of the seventh when H. Tortega doubled off of Josiah Meade, driving in one run.
Despite the loss, DuVal Tigers did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Laurel had 12 hits on the way to victory.
Laurel captured the lead in the first inning. Laurel scored two runs when H. Savage singled with zero outs in the first inning.
After Laurel scored one run in the top of the fourth, DuVal Tigers answered with one of their own. Laurel scored when A. Dickey singled off of Aaron Hemmans, driving in one run. DuVal Tigers then answered when Hemmans singled off of G. Harrison, driving in one run.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, DuVal Tigers tied things up at seven. Justyn Bunkley doubled on a 1-2 count in the sixth inning, scoring three runs.
DuVal Tigers scored six runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a walk by Malik Clarke, a single by Maurice Lyles, and a double by Bunkley.
Savage earned the win for Laurel. He tossed three innings, allowing eight runs, four hits, and striking out five. Savage recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Laurel. Josiah Meade took the loss for DuVal Tigers . He threw one inning, giving up four runs, three hits, striking out one, and walking one.
Harrison started the game for Laurel. He threw four innings, allowing one run, three hits, striking out five, and walking one. Hemmans started the game for DuVal Tigers . He went six innings, allowing eight runs, nine hits, striking out five, and walking one.
Bunkley went 1-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.
M. Sosa, I. Reyes, Savage, and Dickey each collected multiple hits for Laurel. Laurel didn’t commit a single error in the field. Reyes had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.
